Jungite aut Perite; Join or Die. This is the motto of the MLS’s newest team, the Philadelphia Union, and when they needed a partner who could help them bring their mission to the masses, the Philadelphia Union chose 20nine to answer the call. The Union needed a site that would effectively sell their brand, tell their story, and jumpstart the buzz for their upcoming inaugural season in 2010. 20nine & Virtua Welcome a New Bundle of Joy with VirtuaBaby.org!

May 5th, 2009

20nine and our client Virtua, are proud to announce the arrival of VirtuaBaby.org, delivered on May 5th, 2009 at 4:00 pm! A bouncing, beautiful new microsite was created to help Virtua, a major healthcare and hospital system in New Jersey, effectively reach and engage expecting mothers across their footprint in a new way. Virtua dreamt of something that combined high-tech expertise with high-touch personality, a site that would help new mothers form a relationship with Virtua that could extend to the healthcare choices they make for their entire family.

“From the beginning of this project, I was blown away by 20nine’s creativity. VirtuaBaby was a complex project with multiple audiences. They grasped our challenges and came up with a great design concept that accomplished all of our goals. The planner and Web site have been well received, and I am looking forward to working with 20nine in the future on the next phase of VirtuaBaby.”

- Michael Capriotti, Director, Marketing Communications

20nine’s team first brought to life a branded, useful day-planner to be handed out to expectant moms registering to deliver at Virtua. The planner directed recipients directly to the VirtuaBaby site, where they would find the same soft, clean and welcoming brand presence, backed with features like appointment setting, pregnancy progress tracking, educational videos and more. It came complete with a custom content-management system to allow Virtua the ability to easily maintain and grow the functionality of the site on a consistent basis.

VirtuaBaby.org is part of the world now, and just like any proud parent, we couldn’t be more excited to help it grow with Virtua! To learn more about what 20nine can do for your brand, contact our Director of Sales & Marketing, Alison Hindman.

Brand Integration Delivers Real Customer Value

May 1st, 2009

www.philycreativeguide.com

I’m a member of a local Beer of the Month club. I took the time to seek the group out after visiting a local brewery and signed up for their newsletter. This week’s newsletter included a link to their Facebook page, which I became a fan of and received a coupon for a case of their latest brew. In addition, I receive regular tweets from the club with updates on upcoming beers, events and general beer lover tidbits. I’m a happy consumer. Although I would like to write a whole story on beer, I’m actually writing about brand integration, which, in this case ties in pretty well together. Do a Google search on the term “brand integration” and you’ll find over 55,000 results. There might be a good explanation or two in there, but when you get down to it, brand integration is just this – incorporating your organization’s message into every forum where your audience is.

Traditional advertisers may say that ad creation, direct mail pieces and static websites effectively communicate a company’s message. However, today consumers are savvy. They don’t want to hear you tell them that you’ve got the best beer in town. They want to hear it from their best friend who writes a beer blog, or their uncle who brews his own in the basement. While traditional advertising and direct mail might include a brand message, it’s not engaging consumers. It’s no longer enough for a company to say they’re doing something; they need to actually show consumers that they are doing it and engaging customers along the way. Consumers are sophisticated and have a wide range of online options available to them. If your site doesn’t deliver real value, customers may visit once, but won’t return.

Gregory J. Ricciardi, Jr | Managing Partner at 20nine

Case in point, we recently began working with a hospital that is making a big push for more new-mom patients. In doing our research we found that, according to Gallup, patients today are more informed about care options and provider abilities, more vocal about their expectations for care, and more empowered to “shop around” for the best healthcare provider possible. In addition, through researching some of the tens of thousands of mom blogs and doing various Twitter searches on the subject we found what you might expect – that more moms and moms-to-be are going online to get information about their pregnancy than are seeking information from traditional sources, such as their OBGYN. Our client needed to be a part of this.

Gregory J. Ricciardi, Jr | Managing Partner at 20nine

With this in mind we created a website that includes an OB portal where moms-to-be and new-moms can interact easily with the hospital. The portal allows for future moms to create a personal page and includes a section where they can track their baby’s development, follow a personal pregnancy check list, watch educational videos and manage their physician appointments. The key to the success of this site is the engagement of the users.

Integrating a brand message across all forums where customers hang out may sound like a pretty simple concept, but it’s important for us as marketers to communicate to our clients that this is an investment; not necessarily of money, but of time. Creating a Facebook page might be easy and fun, but keeping it updated, relevant and providing content that will keep not only current fans coming back but new fans joining takes strategy and planning. Integrated branding agencies take the time to work with clients to define messaging, decide on the best social media outlets to engage consumers and create strategies in which these engage consumers share the brand message. Once a commitment to brand integration has been made, you will find the true value in engagement.

What a Twit. And we really mean it!

April 29th, 2009

If you haven’t heard of Twitter yet… it’s possible that you’ve been living under a rock. Twitter is the phenomenon of 140-character ‘status updates’ of sorts, only available to any and all on the web. And in case you really haven’t heard of it… it’s kind of a big deal. Celebrities, individuals and companies alike, are flocking to this community to interact directly with friends, fans and customers. Many companies though, are still trying to grasp the why’s and how’s of using Twitter to grow their brand. At 20nine, we believe there’s very real value in this whole business of tweeting, so we thought we’d help you discover what all the buzz is about.

The Promotional Twit- some companies are pushing sales promotions out directly to their followers on the site, driving sales and brand loyalty. Dell Computers used it to alert customers to exclusive product offers this past holiday season, driving in over $1 million in Twitter-related revenue. Companies like JetBlue, Southwest, Royal Caribbean, and even the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, are spotlighting special deals and events through their branded Twitter pages. Southwest Airlines alone, has over 23,000 followers.

The CRM Twit- many corporations are utilizing Twitter to elevate the level of customer service they can provide by reaching out directly to their target audiences and encouraging interaction. It also gives customers a place to feel personally involved in the brand. Frank Eliason, Comcast’s Director of Digital Care, spends countless hours each day managing the ComcastCares Twitter page, fielding comments and questions, and providing support to 16,000+ followers. The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and over 100 other healthcare facilities, are tweeting directly from the OR, creating open and educational dialogue with students, medical professionals and possible patients as well.

The Researcher Twit- this is really the core of how companies are leveraging the power of Twitter to conduct market research, using it to discover and learn about what their target audiences really want out of their brand. Volvo and Land Rover used it to introduce new models at this year’s New York Auto Show, promoting the product and event while giving followers a place to leave their thoughts on the designs and features. Even Pizza Hut is getting in on it, hoping to hire a “summer twintern” to interact with customers and track product/brand feedback to report back to executives with. Whole Foods uses feedback from their 500,000+ followers to evaluate product and service offerings at a corporate level and promote individual store Twitter sites as well.

The simple fact is that Twitter, does indeed, have a place in the world of marketing. To learn more about how a twit can be a good thing for your brand, call 20nine today. Or, because we don’t believe in handing out advice without taking it ourselves, start following us on Twitter! www.twitter.com/20ninedesign

Making the Brand

‘Making the Brand’
Times Herald - Wednesday August 30, 2006 - Carl Rothenberg

CONSHOHOCKEN — The graphic design firm that specializes in defining and broadening a company’s “brand” is prospering by using its five graphic artists to work with client companies.

20nine Design Studios, located in the former Lee Tire building on East Hector Street, eschewed account executives four years ago to put its graphic artists in charge of their clients’ projects. That hands-on approach took advantage of the graphic artists “people” skills and their ability to respond positively to client requests. “Our entire careers have been concerned with learning from an artist’s critiques,” said 20nine Creative Director and owner Greg Ricciardi.
